ELTROXIN 100MCG TABLET contains Thyroxine which belongs to a group of chemicals known as Thyroid hormone receptors. It is used as an alternative therapy for the treatment of primary (thyroid), secondary (pituitary) and tertiary (hypothalamic) hypothyroidism, congenital or acquired.
It is also used as an adjunct to surgery and radioiodine therapy in the treatment of thyrotropin-dependent, well-differentiated rheumatoid arthritis, including papillary or follicular carcinoma.
Hypothyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone into the bloodstream. Symptoms include weakness, increased fever, diarrhea, dry skin, weight gain, facial swelling, hoarseness and muscle weakness.
ELTROXIN 100MCG TABLET is not recommended for use if you have had a recent heart attack, acute myocardial infarction (heart muscle swelling/swelling) or acute pancreatitis (heart swelling/ swelling overall).
Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have serious kidney disease such as kidney failure, end-stage renal failure, hepatitis, renal failure, other heart problems, history of heart attack and/or history of renal failure.
It is contraindicated in patients with overactive pituitary glands or untreated adrenal glands (the inability of the adrenal glands to adequately metabolize the hormone cortisol).
ELTROXIN 100MCG TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant women. It should be used with caution in children and adolescents (under 18 years of age) and elderly patients (over 65 years of age).
The most common side effects associated with ELTROXIN 100MCG TABLET are skin rash, itching and mild anemia (low white blood cell count). Seek medical attention if any of these symptoms worsen.
